Poultry
I am a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in Poultry Science Production with a minor in Agribusiness Management. I participated as an undergraduate researcher in the NPTC Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates (REEU). The summer research and extension efforts were spent evaluating the accuracy of control system sensors and developing materials to help poultry producers improve their efforts. We were trained in control systems and sensors used in precision animal management technologies. I led the effort to develop a survey to further understand poultry grower’s technology uses and the challenges they face using technology. I had the opportunity to develop a research journal article and poster titled: A Survey of Poultry Producers Technology Use and Challenges. I developed an extension article title: NPTC Tools of the Trade: Measuring Air Infiltration. The internship allowed me to develop skills in data collection and analysis, and calibration of sensors.

Podcasts

In August of 2020, I was blessed to be asked to help produce a podcast called Talk with Tori. Even though I had no prior experience producing a podcast, I am so glad Tori Jones took a chance and hired me. I am also grateful that I had the courage to step outside of my comfort zone and learn something new. As a Podcast Producer for the Talk with Tori Podcast, I have self-taught myself the necessary skills to edit, market, and profit from podcasting. Currently, Talk with Tori has achieved over 10,000 downloads in one year of broadcasting.
People
I worked for Wrapsody Gifts, LLC in Auburn, AL for 4 years and 8 months as their Assistant Store Manager. My favorite part about working in retail (especially in a gift store) was my customers. I loved getting to know my customers and have personal relationships with them. Being in downtown Auburn, Wrapsody was the center for all community events. I was always the first to volunteer to work at community events because I loved being able to interact with my community and customers. Assistant Store Manager is a very vague title for all that I managed while there. I supervised the eCommerce website, jewelry department and managed the downstairs sales associates (we called them Wrapettes). I tend to gravitate toward jobs and experiences that benefit the community and make a difference. Some of my favorite job experiences have been centered around helping people. As the former philanthropy chair for the Poultry Science Club at Auburn University, I led the effort to support the Food Bank of East Alabama and brought in about 224 canned food items weighing in at over 220 pounds. To raise further awareness for food insecurity, the club and I constructed a canned food sculpture and displayed it in the Auburn University Poultry Science Department Lobby.
